IN VARIED FORM.REPEATED OVER AND OVER AGAIN, ilr G. Hamilton, of Auckland, writes: — Dor the past four or five years I-had sufterecl from indigestion and nervous prostration, and was compelled to give up my-posi-tion on account of this ailment. My nerves were all unstrung, and had palpitation of the heart, and would jump in the'middle of the night with a horrible nightmare. I employed several physicians, but could get no relief, likewise several patent medicines, and, as I was gradually pfetti« K worse and worse, I decided to give Dr SPEER a trial, who said .hat my case was a bad one, but where there was Jue there is hope; so I entrusted mysslf under n,s c . ar o, and by thu end of the first month I b S g an to feel a change, as the nervous spoils were less frequent,' and my heart began to get mora normal; and, in fact, by thp end of the second month all that gloom and morlnd condition ■ was entirely cleaved jway. I took Dr SPEER'S treatment for Jour months, and can candidly say what he did ,or me was not far short of a miracle, as J. Rained weight, eat well, and feel altogether a different human being." BROKERS' CHARGES. TO THE EDITOR.
Sik, —Permit me, through the medium ot your columns, to draw attention to the enormous rates of brokerage charged by .niembsis of the Dunedm Stock Exchange, in the hope that that body n:;<y see its way to.modify their charges in the interests oi the speculative public. I shall give an example oi what rutes of brokerage on mining shares charged to both buyer and seller meSos: A broker receives a commission to buy 100 shares iv. a. company 10s paid up, and which are standing at a premium of say, Gd; the rate for this transaction is 4d per share, which means a corcmissiou of £1 13s i&, besides stamp duty and transfer foe. Given a rise oj Gd. and the buyer wishes to sell he will be charged another £1 13s 4d; this will leave the unlucky, speculator with a debit balance of £1 2s Sti.. If the broker buys, for his client in the first place, privately, and sells privately, he nets a commission of £6 13s 4d.
I trust, Sir, you will find snaco for this letter and thereby give the public an iclea what dealing with a member of the Dunedin Stock Exchange means.—l am, etc., Vicxiir. Duuedin, December 1. ..-.!."
