ST. KILDA BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The regular meeting .of tho St. Kilda Borough Council was held last night, and was attended by the Mayor (Air T. S. Culling), Ore Eagar, Allan-, Mitchell, Farrcll, and Ashton.
Air J. Congalton wrote ccmpiainiiig .of the bad condition of the drains and roads in High street, Musselburgh.—lt vvaS decided that the drains bo attended to.
Mr H. AY. Mitchell wrote.tbat he had received no reply lo his letter respecting the cleansing' of'the ditches and placing of drain pipes in front of his property in Cargill street. —Dealt with in the AVorks Committee's report. . • ' ■ . >..'-.
• Airs I-). M'Kenzie wrote drawing attention to the necessity of making an.approach tc her property on the mail? road. —Footpath to be formed.
Mr F, AY. Ibbotson wrote asking that tho surfaceman might be instructed to remove the grass, weeds, and rubbish from the footpath fronting his property in the Forbury road.— Tho Caversham Council to lxj written to, asking them to attend to the .work.
The Finance Committee reported tho overdraft to be'£Bl4 12s lid, being £133 5s ld under the legal limit. There were coupons post due, £105 10s 6d, bringing the amount within the legal limit.'tq.-£27 lis 7d!—Received.
The AVorks Committee reported that tlicy had found .the footpath in front of Mr.H. AY. Mitchell's property, Cargill street, fairly good, and the ditch free from smell or foul water, and they had no recommendation to make, except that the weeds be cleared from the ditch. With regard to the drainage in connection with Mr' 11. 11. AVilson's, Anderson's Bay load, the committee recommended that a bin drain be laid mi the road, to take ali'the house drainage in the block, aiid connect it with the-pipe drain at the corner' of the Queen's Drive. The estimated. cost was £5 ,7s, and owners of property should be" required to pay one-third cost.—Adopted, with the exception of the last clause, which wan referred back to the committee.
Mr.AY. Kirldand's tender for the supply of screened rotten rock, at 3s 4d per cubic yard, was accepted. A general rate of Is- in the £ was struck for the ensuing year. . ■ The Inspector reported on work done in the borough, and estimated the cost of kerbing the east side of Culten street; from Prince Edward road to Richardson street, with hard wood, at £13. AVith bluestone, roughly squared, it .would be £22. 10s.—Received. The accounts passed for payment amounted lo £36 17s Id.
