SEQUEL TO THE JURY'S FINDING.

CHRISTCHURCH, April 12.

At the Magistrate's Court, Rangiora, x\ndrew Doyley was charged with committing a violent assault on Frederick Stevens, who, it will be remembered, committed suicide shortly after the occurrence. The Bench' said that though the provocation given was severe, yet it did not warrant the .accused retaliating. The violence of his conduct was very great, and not in any ease justified or lit to be considered as other than that of a man who had lost control of himself. A fine of £3 with costs, in all amounting to £5 14s, was inflicted.
