PRESENTATIONS.

At tho office / of Messrs John Mill and Co., Port Chalmers, last evening Mr D. L. K. Walker was presented with a purse of sovereigns by his fellow employees on the occasion of his severing his connection with the firm and taking his departure for Edinburgh, where ho intends joining his brother in business. The presentation was made by Mr J. A. Howden, the firm's accountant, who, in a few brief words gave expression to the high esteem in which Mr "Walker was held, by his fellow employees, who one and all wished him a pleasant and safe voyage Home and a prosperous career in the new sphere in which he was about to enter. Mr Walker very feelingly and suitably responded, and expressed his deep regret at the severance of his connection with the firm And the association of his fellow employees, which had existed for a period of 18 years. Mr Walker intimated that ho had also received a very handsome present from. Mr Mill. Mr Walker and family leave by the, Tarawera on Thursday for Sydney, where they join tho s.s. Ophir. At a meeting of the Sabbath school teachers of the Presbyterian Church at Port Chalmers on Friday evening, the llev. E. C. T-'ennent presented Miss A. Young, who has been removed ',to other par,ts, with a handsomelybound' teacher's Bible, suitably inscribed, as a small token of the esteem, and respect in which Miss Young is held by the teachers of this school. Mr W. Gibb replied on behalf of Miss Young, thanking the teachers for their kindness and good wishes i expressed. Some light, refreshments wero handed round, and a very enjoyable evening spent.
