HIGHCLIFF.
The.Highcliff School broke up for the holidays on Friday, when a very successful concert was held, the hall being crowded, to excess. The items consisted of songs, recitations, and dialogues,' which were successfully rendered by the pupils. Refreshments, provided by the ladies of the district, were handed round, and after justice was done to the good things the committee presented each pupil attending the school with a book. The Rev. A. Greig proposed a vote of thanks to the teachers and the committee. A similar, vote was passed, on the motion of Mr Stuart, to the ladies for providing, the cakes, after which the hall was cleared for dancing, which' was kept up with spirit till an early hour. : ANDERSON'S BAY PRIVATE SCHOOL." A large number of parents and friends assembled at the English Church Schoolroom to witness the distribution of prizes and to examine the work. The walls were decorated with maps and drawings, whilst on the table were samples of German writing, sewing, knitting, fanoy work, darning, etc. The children gave .several recitations and pianoforte, items, followed by calisthenicandfan exeroisos.'': The Rev.
