PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of the Portobello Road Board, held on Saturday last, was attended by Messrs W. Dickson (in the chair), Kaynbird, llacandrew, Milne, Geary, Seaton and Hinkley. The inspector's report was adopted. Mr Raynbird gave notice that he would move at next meeting that the toll on bicycles be reduced from Is to Gd. Milne gave notice that at next meeting he would move that the toll be abolished. Mr Forsyth and Mr Nyhon were granted one month's extension of time to complete their contracts. Only one tender for metal was received, and the specimen of stone was considered inadequate it was not accepted. The inspector was ordered to call for fresh tenders. Mr Francis's application for somo repairs to Leith Walk was granted. The clerk was instructed to provide a copy of VV. Jolliffe's " Handbook of Local Government Law of New Zealand" for the use of the board. It was resolved tliat all permanent and other surfacemen get notice that their services will not be required during the months of December and January next. The toll collector reported that £19 6s 3d was collected for the month. Accounts to the amount of £741 7s 6d were passed for payment.
