PORTOBELLO ROAD BOARD.

The ordinary meeting of th* Portobello Road Board, held on Saturdaj, 2Pith ult., was attended by Messrs W. Dickson (m the chair), Raynbiid, Macandiew, Milne, Geary, Seaton, and Hmlcley. The inspector's report was adopted. Mr Eaynbird gave notice that he would move at next meeting that the toll on bicycles be leduced from Is to Gd. lar Milne gave notice that at next meeting he would move that the toll be abolishel Mr Forsyth and Mr Nyhon were granted one month's <yttc-nsion of time to complete their contracts. O.ily oup tendoi for niotal was received, and the specimen of stone was considered inadequate it was not accepted. The inspector was ordered to call for fresh tenders. Mr Francis's application for some repairs to Leith Walk was granted. The clerk was instructed to provide a copy of \V. Jolliffe's " Handbook of Local Government Law of New Zealand " for the use of the board. It was resolved that all permanent and other surfacemen get notice that their sprvices *rill not be required during the months of -December and January next. The toll collector reported that £19 6s 3d was collected for the month. Accounts to the amount of £741 7s 6d were passed for payment.
