AN ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION.
Press Asseciation—By Telegraph—Copyrifiht. ,' London, February 25. v (Received February 26, at 9.15 a.m.) At a mee"tintr' of^ the" Royal Society Mr John Marra.^F.R.S.. read a paper advocatj ing a naval exploring expedition to the Antarctic. Sir Joseph Hooker suggested that a captive balloon would facilitate land exploration. Dr Nahsen concurred In: the suggestion, and also made light of the dangers from ice* which he thinks considerably les3 broken than in the Arctic seas. He is convinced that Norway will ec-operate in the expedition. The Dake of Argyll. Admiral Msrkbam, and other eminent public scientific men also advocated the expedition.
