At the concluding day of the Auckland trotting meeting £3289 10s was pu!; through thR machine. A cible message to the Sydney Morning Herald says-that'a coroner's inquest has been held touching the death of Walter Crcot, the English pugilist, who died as the result oE injuries received while engaged in a boxiDg match at the rooms of the National Sporting Club with James Barry, the American boxer. The medicnl evidence showed that Groot's death was dua to fracture of the skull, which he received through a fall, and a verdict or accidental death was returned. Barry and the otlior persons who were arrested in connection with the case have accordingly been released from custody. ___^____
