Magnificent weather was experienced at tbe race* to-day, and there was a large attendance. The public fell with a dull, sickening thiid over Skipper's victory in the big event. Not unmindful of the Hawkesbury meetißg, they had never looked his way. There was a hostile demonstration ou liia return to the saddling paddock; and some feeling was also displayed later on over Coil's performance in the New Stakes. There was little change till the back of the course was reached, where Hopscotch moved forward and at the sheds took command, T.-ith Rackarock, Survivor, Skipper,, aud Nada after him. Response rnadu a forward movement at the turn, and led the way into the fltraight, with Rack&rock, Skipnor, and True Blue iv attendance. At the distance Skipper came fast along the rails and beat Trua Blue by a neck, Response, two lengths away, third. Time, 2min 37f sec.
