OTAGO AGRICULTURAL AND PASTORAL SOCIETY.
A mseting of the Committee of the Otago Agricultural and Pastoral Society was held at the secretary's offlso on Saturday morning, and was attended by1 Messrs .Is.ir.es Smith(president, in the chair), W. H. Tiggart, J. Gow./M. Sinclair, H. V. Fulton, G. Roberts, J. Angus, j J. Lefchbrirlge, W. Blackie, G. H. Gilroy, J. Steel, A. Doujjlass, W. Charters, R. Gawn, A. W. Robin, J. Wright, A. C. Stronach, A. M'Farlane, J. A. Stewart, J. Duthie, W, Patrick, R. Campbell, D. Bacon, and Hon. T. Fergus. Apologies were received from Messrs T. Brydone, F. Oldhatn, and C. S. Reid. [ A considarabla amount of correspondence [ was received, including a letter from the aecrc- j tary of the National Sheep Breeders' Association, thinking the commitfcea for taair support in connection wibh ths suggested quarantine regulations in regard to sheep, and forwarding a few coptM of the regulations for tho use of those interested; from the General Manager j New Zealand railways, acknowledging the ; committee1!! resolution ia favour of the peti- j tiou presented to Parliament in reference ta j tha railage of frozen meat; from Mr J. D. j Ritchie, secretary Agricultural department, j acknowledging the resolutions re dipping sheep, taxing stallions, and railage on frozen meat, and advising that.they would receive every consideration. It was decided to appoint judges for tbe Central Otago Association as soon as tha committee ascertained the number required and date of snow. An advance copy of the society's annus.l journal wa3 laid 00. tlfe table, and much admired by those present.—Oa the motion of I Mr-M. Sinclair., a special vote of thanks was accorded to thosa gentlemen who had contributed articles, and to all thoße who had assisted in supplying useful information. The Grounds Committse reported that they had inspected the park last week and had made application to the members of the Ocean Bsach Domain Baard to grant them a piece of land adjoining the park, and thus provide more accommodation at the November show. They i suggested thaS, on condition of their application ' being granted, new cattle yards aud extra j accommodation be erected on tbo new site," and that, also, the fence now erected at top end of the park be removed and ra-ereoted alongside the Tomahawk road.—The report was adopted and authority given to call for tenders for tbe necessary alterations and improvements. The Programme Committee's report was aho adopted, and authority given to have the catalogues printed and circulated. Five new membei-3 were nominated aud elected, and the judges were nominated for the forthcoming show.
