The s.s. Omapere, from Westport, via Oamaru, arrived at Port Chalmers at 4.20 p.m. yesterday, and steamed alongside the ship Pleione to tranship 120 bales wool. She left Weatport at noon on the 16th inst., experienced exceptionally fine weather, and reached Lytteltoa at 5 a.m. on the 18th, leaving again at midnight same day; called at Timaru 19th, and Oamaru on the 20th, leaving the latter port at 11 a.m. yesterday, and wrived as above.

The Port Chalmers Dock Trust freezing chamber is now in full working order, and yesterday 140 lambs were received for freezing. In addition to this there is a large quantity of fish in store, while a shipment of cheese was tent Home by the R.MJ3. Rimutaka. The s.s. Rosamond commenced discharging her cargo of railway iron into the tracks at the Jetty Street wharf yesterday morning. The schooner Marmion is loading at the Jetty rtreet wharf for Wellington and the West Coast. The departure of the s.s. Omapere for the West Coast ports has been deferred until to-morrow ftfternoon. A steamer bound south passed Otago Heads yesterday.morning. . . ■) Abarqiie, supposed to be the William Manson, pasted' the heads yesterday morning bound north. She is from Newcastle for Timaru. The barquentine R. A. C. Smith ib expected to be clear of her Dunedin. cargo to-day, and trill leave on Monday for Auckland. A, few more days shonld•. bring the barque Titania, from Glasgow, into port. She is now 97 days out, and comes consigned to the N.M. and A. Company (Limited). The barque Peri, from Adelaide to Otago Heads for orders, should soon put in an appearance. She is now 21 days out. The s.s., Corinna, from the north, will arrive at the Rattray street wharf this morning. Theß.s. Talune, from Sydney, via Cook Strait, will;, arrive at the tongue wharf on Sunday morning. H:M.S. Pylades, which recently arrived at Melbourne, is to replace the Curacoa on this station. She is a steam corvette of the third class, built in 1880 at the Royal dockyard, Sheerness. She is a composite vessel of 1420 tons displacement, is barque rigged, and steams at the rate of \2iS knots an hour. Her armament consists of 14 sin breech-loading guns, and eight magazine guns. She is under the command of Captain Horace R. Adams, and has the following staff of officers .-—Lieutenants—A. T. Taylor, R. N. Parker, P. R. Garrett (navigating), J. C. Bartlett; giymaster, A. 6. Andrews; chief engineer, J. arber; gunner, G. P. Campton; boatswains— W. H. Maynard and E. G. Bishop. A barquentine passed the heads at 9 ».m. yesterday, bound north. , The s.s. Wareatea having been overhauled, cleaned, and painted will be floated out of the graving dock this morning. H.M.S. Rapid sailed yesterday afternoon for Stewart Island and West Coast.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows:—For the monthly sale there was a very full entry of sheep, but of cuttle there were not many forward. Settlers not having intimated that such quantities of abeep would be at the sale, comparatively speaking few buyers attended—no outside ones,—and the sales that were effected were all to settlers in the district.' A fair number of sheep changed hands at moderate prices, but a large number had to be withdrawn for want of buyers Fat crossbred wethers brought from 8s 9d to 9s 4d; store do, 7s 3d to Ss; crossbred lambs, 4s to Cs; full-mouthed crossbred ewes, 3s to 63. The sale for aged dairy cows was nil, but young cattle reached fair values.
