CEICKET.

OTAGO CRICKETERS' ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the General Committee was held on Friday evening last, and attended by Messrs J. Smith, juu. (president), Baker, Gooch, Ringer, Maclean, Ritchie, and Smjth.

The President laid before the meeting a letter from Mr A. M'Donald tendering his resignation »s a vice-president on the ground that he did not feel disposed to- be subjected to the adveraa personal feeling which he noticed had bt*su exhibited towards him by certain members of the association.—Tha opinion was freoly expressed l»y the meeting that Mr M'Donsld ehould be requested to retract his statements, but it was eventually resolved—" Thai the resignation be accepted, 51r M'Donald to be adviecd that the committee fully recognise and appreciate -the good service he had rendered the association during his term of office, and regreb that he should have laboured under the mistaken impression that a personal adverse feeling was being displayed towards him. Further, they consider his remark that hfi had been subjected to direct insult waa uncalled for, aud entirely without foundation." Mr T. A. Hunter was elected a vice-president in Mr M'Donnld's stead.

A lptter was read from the lion, secretary New Zealand Cricket Council conveying copies of resolutions passed at their bust meeting ragsrding the visit of a New Zealand team to Australia next season, and inquiring whist proportion of fche £200 it was suggested Bhouid be subscribed towards the- venture by the cricketing public of New Zealand the association were prepared to collect. After careful consideration it was decided to reply that this association do not feel warranted in appealing to the public for assistance towards sending a New Zealand team to Australia next year, as they consider that until such time as the Australian associations are prepared to receive our players on the same terms as those upon which the New Zealand Cricket Council invited the lost New South Wales team the tour should not be undertaken ; and, again, that the benefit likely to be derived towards the improvement of the game in New Zealand is not sufficient to justify the outlay. The 'council also forwarded notices of motions to be moved by Mr Wanklyn (Taranaki) at next meeting, which were to the effect—" That if other than travelling expenses be allowed to players taking part in matches under the control of the council it shall constitute them professionals," and " that no presentation* be made to players out of the funds of the council."—Resolved to instruct the association delegates to vote against their adoption.

The Senior Cup match Carisbrook A v. Orange will be continued at Carisbrook to-morrow (Wednesday) evening. To win the match the Grange have 55 runs to make and seven wickets to fall.
