The Premier, replying to a deputation who wanted the Government Printing Office to execute the printing required for the proposed industrial exhibition, ad?i_ed them not for the sake of a few pounds to bring themselves into .conflict with the printing trade. Similar requests, he explained, had been preferred before, but he had alwajs tiled lo keep clear of them. If the Government did it for one thej wonld have to do it for all, and he did not believe in bringing the printing office into antagonism with outside firms. The amount involved in this case was so small as to be not worth troubling about.
Mr 8. Brown, president of the exhibition, has written to the Pri.mier stating that the request of the deputation for the services of the Government Printii-g Office was quite unauthorised. The Executive Committee had already discussed the question, snd bad come tomuch the same conclusion as the Premier,
