CRICKET.

THE AUSTRALIAN ELEVEN.

Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright,

Melbourne, March 11,

Peeling in cricket circles against the exslusioa of Johns and Harry from the Australian Kleven runs very high, the general opinion being that it is unjustified and unwarranted. Harry stated that bs bad practised since his leg was injured and found it as sonndas ever, and jhe was as flt as any man in the team. He | intends to take legal aotion if his exclusion is insisted on. At a meeting of the Cricket Association Mr Moir said that Johns had been excluded in deference to the howling of the Sydney crowd. It was unjust and monstrono to displace him at the last hour. The teat he was snbmitted to in taking fast bowling was not a proper one. Kelly was given easy bowling by bis friends. As a protest against the alterations, he moved that consideration of the Cricket Council's urinates be postponed. He added that Harry had been put out for the ostensible reason that his knee was bad, when they knew that it was all right. Mr Clarke, in eeconding the motion, aaid tba treatment of Johns by the Sydney crowd was disgraceful., Although Kelly had to keep wicket to vastly' different bowling, be did Dot show belter work. The crowd had evidently influenced the Match Committee. Several other members spoke in equally indignant terms, and the resolution was carried. [From the above it would appear that yesterday's meesnge stating that Harry only was excluded was incorrect:.] Sydney, March 11. > The inclusion of Johns makes Harry's exclusion practically indefensible. It is now possible Hill will stand aside in Harry's favour. A London cable states that the honours of & splendid match rested with M'Donnell's team. % Tbe Melbourne Cricket Association favourably entertained the proposed visit of. a New Zealand team, but nq definite arrangements were made. A match will be playad in the Oval this afternoon between teams from the Telegraph Office and from the Daily Ximes Office, play to commence at 230 sharp. FoUo'wing are the players :— Telegraph: Marryatt, James, Faulki, Beck, Maolean, Baird, O'Cuntior, Keys, Peebles, Miscall, M'Lennan.
