Arthur Harry Cutler has been appointed a, cadet in the Supreme Court at Dunedin.

It was stated at lsst night's meeting of tne National Association that the membersbip was now 300.

John Currie, of Riversdale, has made application for letters patent for a machine for thinning turnips or other root crops sown in drills.

Mr G. Humphreys, s'Christchurch merchant, who has just returned from the United States, told a Press representative that in the several prohibition States he parsed through prohibition was regarded as a farce, and liquor could be got by asking for " cold tea." The pupils bave only been attending the classes for six weeks, and although many have had no previous experience whatever they have turned out woik whioh even to the unpractised eye of a male critic is manifestly of a first-class order. The work is well worth a visit of inspection, and members ot the fair sex should tako the opportunity of attending at Misft Peter's rooms before the exhibition is closed.
