January 19. The picnic inaugurated by the Natives to celebrate the settlement of the Wairarapa Lake difficulty was held at Pigeon Bush yesterday. There was n large attendance both of ssttler, aud Natives. The Premier, the Hon. Mr and Messrs . Buchanan apd' Hogg, • M.H.R.'s, were amoDg those present. Several speeches were delivered, all the speakers referring with great satisfaction to the settler ment by the Government of the matter, which had been attempted by successive Governments.
