BAILWAS EMPLOYEES' BENEFIT SOCIETY.
The twenty-first annual meeting of the Otigo Railway Employees' Benefit Society was held in their room, Rsttray street, on Wednesday evening. In the absence of the president, Mr Foote (vice-president) occupied the chair.
The various reports and balance sheet were read and adopted. The balance sheet showed the receipts in aid of the sick and funeral fund to have been £424 12s 9d and ihe expenditure £197 7s Bd, leaving a balance to credit of tbe fund of £2774 2s lid. The management fund receipts Wre £194 16» 7d and the expenditure £187 8s 3d, leaving a valance to credit of this fund of £28 Is: sd. General statement:—To balance at December 31, 1894, £2567 10a lid; receipts during the year, £619 9s 4(1; expenditure, £38415s lid; and the balance' as at December 31 last, £2802 4s 4d. The total number of members at the commeeceaient of the year was 134, less resigned, transferred, &ii., 4, leaving 130 members at the end of the year. A levy of Is per quarter was struck in aid of the management fund.
The following wereelectedasofflce-bearerß:— President, Mr T. Arthur; vice-president, Mr P. Foote;' secretary, Mr W. A. Fastier; treasurer, Mr R. Russell;' trustees, Messrs F. Foote and Thomas Garland; auditors, Messrs J. C. Wilson and D. M. Campbell; committee—Messes J. Mattheweon, F. Foote, A, Fyfe, R. Ross, J. C. Wilson, T. Henderson, J. Taylor, Thomas Garland," R. Russell, J. Miller, J. Davii>, H. IJ&tt, and D. M. Campbell. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded to Messrs John Matthewson and A, Fyfe, late trustees of the society, for their valuable services for so many years.' A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the proceedings.
