CAVERSHAM BOROUGH COUNCIL.
. o Tbe ordinary meeting of the Caversham Borough Coancil, held last evening, was attended by the Mayor (Mr AY. Bridgman), and Crß AVilkinson, BurgeEsi AVilson, Hancock,' YouDg,;M'Laren, M'Gcnegal, Rae, and Ruston. The Works Committee reported having instructed the inspector to furnish the council with information regarding the staging at the Fire Brigade shed.—The report was adopted. The Finauce Committee reported having passed the following accounts for payment: — General account, £4-7 4s; water supply, £2 5s 3d ; St. Clair water supply, £1 3s 8d; and £21 8s 4-d sanitary rate account. The sum of £223 ls 5d had been .lodged in bank since last meeting. _ Mr Joseph M'Kay and Mr W. D. Houston wrote complaining of a nuisance caused by rnbbish being deposited in Queen street, Allandale. The town clerk was instructed to report to the Workß Committee on the matter, and in the meantime to abate the nuisance aB much as possible. . ....... ..:.. ; I Mr D. Haynes wrote that a leak in the channel in. College street' caused tbe water to run on to his property.—Referred to the inspector, with power to act. future contracts accepted by the -council provision should be made for a living wage." Cr M'Lean seconded the motion, and after a discussion it was lost by 4 votes to 3. ,
