SCHOOL COMMITTEES.

The Albany street School Committee met last night, nbeu there were present—Messrs Barnett (chairman), Wait (feoretery), Thompson, G. J. Anderson, Kggers, and A. T. Anderson. Arcouuts amounting to £14 3s lOd were passed for payment. Circulars were received from candidates for election to tfce Educalion Board, thone writing being :—Messrs W. Dallas, J. J. Rwnsay. J. Green, J. 11. G.illaway, T. Maebcuzie, Dr Stcmboare, and the Rev. A. Cameron. It was decided not io nominate any candidate.'. A letter from the EUic&tion Board was received decliuiug to build a nsw school as applied ioi by tha committee, but stating tbnt the architect would visit the school and report as to the feasibility of improvements. .

The monthly meeting of the Ca.versb.am School Committee, on Monday evening, was attended by Messrs Rutherford (in the chair), TenuanS, Butlin, Morrison, Todd, Williams, Martin, Stevenson, aud Sidty. It waa decided that the school should resume on the 27th iust,., and not to make any.nominations for tfce Education Board vacancies. Repairs to the school building and grounds were authorised. Tho rest of the business was of a routine character.

It was resolved to have the names of the duxes—Alfred Hiofcy and Emily Hills—placed ou the honour board. Ou the motion of Me J. Wbite, Dr Stsnhouse aud Mr J. Green, M.H R., were nominated for election to the vacancies in the Education Board. It was agreed that the schoo! picnic should be heid in the isss wee's in February, and the cfcairman, the secretary, and Mr Duthia were appointed a cammittee to report on tho im!t-r at tb.B next meeting of tbe committee. Tbe Works Committee was authorised to attend to certain matters, and accounts amounting to £14 3« 51 were passed for payment.
