A PUBLIC GRIEVANCE.
• TO THE BDITOB. Sib, —Allow me to call your attention to and crave your asnistance to do away with b pnklie grievance and railway imposition. Instance: A lady travelling with faiuiiy of email children ond baby from south to Okristchurch or north station, arriving ia Dunedia in evening, has to stop for a night on her joaraey, the train going no farther that night. On arrival she has to go forward to tha V3n, claim her luggage, trot with, of course, all her little ones in perhaps a heavy rain ovsr the ovarb'ridge, threading her way as best she can through the inevitable crowd of idlets, &c, on the platform. She then ha 3to wait her turn, pay her several twopence?, receive fa«r tickets, produce them again next morning, and take ont her .paresis. I hold that once the railway, officials label her luggage at the starting point she should have no further trouble until' she arrives at her destination. Tha labelled luggage | should be treated the same way aB parcels being sent without a passenger. Hoping yon will use your influence to do away with this unnecessary humbug,—l am, &c., ••"■■-• , Danedin, July 24-. Edwaed Clark.
