July 24. .At the inquest upon the fire on board the Hilaria, the jury found B'dward Benson (the watchman) and Mark Lindsay (the second mate) guilty of wilfully setting fire tothe ship. Both were arrested. THE BURNING MINE. The Proprietary Company have bought up tbe whole of the manufactured supply of carbolic anhydride, and will try to stop the fire in Block XI mine, Broken Hill, by this means. A fire in the Comscock mine, Nevada, in 1860 waa extinguished in that way., ■_/'._. Stdney. July 24. . The fire shows signs of decreasing. " Large quantities of water are still being poured in^ and a large body of carbc»ic acid gas has been generated, and will be used. To-night the outlook is more hopeful, but several further subsidences have taken place. A STEAMER ASHORE. Brisbane, July 24.
