NOTES FROM LYELL. (From Our Own Correspondent.)
Lyell, July 19. Lyell Creek Company.—The manager reports :— "During the week the main level north has bsen :- extended a distance of 7ft, making tlie total dis- •■ tar.cc driven on the reef 51ft. The stone has Burrowed down to 2ft in width, the walls .being still 6ft apart. There is a great chsnp m the' face to-day. The hard fcoiw* 1 has cut out and softer country, with a so--<i deal of water, has conic in, and "the reef is lively oO tmke :; g *in any. ipoinont. The leading stope hat btun driven 20ft.
