A MINING DISASTER.
EIGHT MEN KILLED,
Press Association—By Telegraph— Copyright. Sydney. July IS. A terrible catastrophe- occurred in the South Broken Hill miaa this afternoon. The day shift was engaged at the 400 ft level on the sulphides slopes, and as che ground looked dangerous the men ware called ont. They retired to wbat was regarded as a safe position, when an immense fall of tiarth took place.- The men were safe from this, bufc the pressure of the falling mass caused a terrific blast of air, which threw the men aboufc like nine pins, dashing them against the timber with great violence. Oa inspection it was found eight men had been killed and two severely injured.
The names of those killed ara Tremback, Nelson, Snell; Bearce, Lee, Holmes, Arthur, snd M'Leish.
With tbe exception of M'Leish, the deceased leave wives and families.
