Auckland, July 18.
Mr Henry Reynolds, who arrived by the Monowai on a flying visit to the colony, intends to be back in London in time for the next butter season—that is to say, by October or November. He intends to travel over most of New Zealand, with the objectof explaining cleatly the present altered position and prospects of the colonial butter market in London, and of suggesting a course which he deems desirable in existing and probable circumstances.
Wellington, July 18. The number of persons arriving in the colony for June was 1131, and the number of departures was 1750.
The rughlations restricting the sale and use of firearms and ammunition in Samoa are gazetteid.

The Fmr.uce Committee, of the City Council reported recommending that information be obtained irom bondholders as to the extant a response is likely to be made to convert'the city loans. The mayor said if conversion was a success it would result in a savine of from £5000 to £6000 per annum in interest alone.

T ~ „ . Nelson; July 18. In the Sapretne Court thi* morning, before Judge Richmond and a special jury, Austin Weller s_u«d J. Langley Adams on a claim for £1000 _ damages for malicious prosecution. Some time ago Weller was arrestsd and brought before the magistrate on a charge of breaking open a box at the Rotoiti ruu, and stealing the contents of the.box. The magistrate dismissed the charge withont calling on the defence.
CHIiISTCHURCH, July 18. At a meeting of the committee of the Canterbury Agriculiural and Pastoral Association today, a letter was read from the Agricultural department asking the opinion of the association on the proposal of Mr L-rnich that the Government sbould subsidise agricultural and pastoral societies. After discussion, it was resolved to reply that* the association could not recommend the expenditure of public money by the Government as suggested by Mr Larnach.
