EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTE.

The annnal meeting of the Duaedin branch of the Otago Educational Institute was held in the Normal School on Saturday morning, when there wore present: Mr "VV. V^The annual report showed that the'membership of ths Dunedin braach is 66, that being an increase of four over the membership for the preceding S ear; but the average attendance, excluding that of 71 teachers afc a special mee£ ing, had faUen to 17. In the repsrt it was mentioned that no reply had been received from the board to the request to postpone decision with regard to the classification scheme The balance sheet showed a credit balance of £1 7s 6d. On the motion of Mr J. Reid, triio expressed the opinion that the satisfactory position of the branch, as disclosed in tfee report, was largely due to Mr Johnsoa, the secretsty, tile report was adapted nem. dis. , .. Mr J. A. Johnson was unanimously elsctad president of the branch, and the position of secretary was accepted-by Mr R. J. Btrrett. _It was resolved to recommend the Committee of Management of the institute to organise a social gathering m. conheefcion with the annual meetiDg of the Otago Educatioßal Institute.
