The Premier hns written to the Premier of yicforia in reference to his objections to the reciprocal traaty with New Zealand. He says, assuming for a moment federation generally will not be advanced by it, yet a modieuin of federation at least; will be secured by the treaty. He invites consideration to the fact oE how far Victoria is justified in complaining. Only recently he ÜBsuccsssfully invited the Victorian Government to show a practical exhibition of intercolonial comity by the redemption of promises previously given by that colony for securing a friendly settlement of the differences between the two colonies. The reply was that Victoria never considered the neighbouring colonies in her copamercial policy. She was directly responsible for the existence of many barriers to Intercolonial Freetrade, which, having served her purpose, she now desired to remove. Victoria having embarked on a course of Protection nearly 30 years ago, has ever since persistently continued and extended it in various ways. Mr Kingston claims lhat the treaty is not antifedsral, and invites Mr Turner to make a similar arrangement,
