We have before us (says an English newspap.er) reports of a recent Footballspiel from Sluih&usen, in Elsa?s, from Basel, and from Zurich. They are all so riddled with English words and phrases, for which the German language can find no adequate synonyms, that thay look like German exercises by an English schoolboy who has thrust in an English word wherever he could, not bethinking himself of any German equivalent. We read that there was a " match" on Sunday between the " Footballklub Basel" and the '' Footballklub Eiceleior." The reporter, in his vivid description of the game, throws his German to the wind, and writes of "das goal," "die forwards," "die halves," "die backs," "das kick," and "daa seiten kick." "der referea," "time," and "half-time."
