The Wellington Trotting Club's meeting was held ywferday. \ About £2097 was passed through the machine. The Trotting Club Handicap was won by Billy Buttons (dividend £5 \t), tho Bliraniar Handicap by Inyictus (dividend £7 12s), and the Electric Handicap also by Invictus (dividend £W 4s). As thp distances of the races are not given, and handicaps of placed hortes are in some esses vaguely stated to be " limit," the information concerning the meeting supplied by the Press Association is not of great value. A Wellington telegram says the cost of the champion yacht Waitaogi was £750. It i? understood she and the M»*cotte will meet again in a general handicap yacht race which is to be sailed next Saturday afternoon. The following are tho handicaps for the Dimedin Cycling Club's Five-mile Roadster Handicap to be run at the Cariabrook ground to-night at 7 o'clock sharp:—W. Bell scr, J. Sntfth 50 yard?, B. Falck 150, G. Tookinson 200, J. Dntids 450, A. Aitchiaon 450, Jas. Abfirnethy 600, R. Peeblefi 600. A special rticoting pf the Ofago Yacht Club was held pn Tuesday evening in the rooms, of Mr S t 8, Myers (commodore), who occupied tne chajr. The .Secretary (Mr D. F&tep-on) stated that the committee, so far as they had gone, had been very successful in collecting funds for the club's annual regatta, the busir nee* firms of the town having subscribed very liberally. It was sugganted that a novelty in the ships of a protuemids concert might be got up, and steps wore at once taken to hold a concert on the tongue wharf where H.I.S. RpyaJißt is lying. Lieutenant Smith, of the warship, was approached on the matter, and he very readily consented to supply the club with crews to go through different drills, such as fiejd gun drijl, sword and bayonpt exercise (marines), cutlass drill (bluejackets), step dance and songs by A.B's. The Engineers' Band kindiy offered their services, whilst several of our best locil vocalists also tendered their services. A firss-class programme has consequently been provided, whilo an additional attraction cpnsjsta ia the fact that the public will also have one more opportunity of having a lopk at this trim and smart-looking little warship. ■. The tongue wharf is splendidly adapted far an entertainment of this sort on account of itq spaciousness, wh|)e the large i»hed wjll prqvide accnmmodatiqn for almost as many people as any of our largest oity halls. Tho secretary of the Harbour Board (Mr J, L. Gillies) has rendered the committee every assistance possible.,
