CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY FAIR
Satisfactory entries have been received by the management of the fair to be held on the Caledonian grounds ou Buxing Nieht and the following evening far the 350 yds Handicap and Mile Walking Race. The programme published in another column is a lengthy one. There is to be a promenade concert, selections by the Naval Band, who will perform during the evening, trap.-zc and contortion acts by Signor Loando, comical exhibitions by the clowns, including a bun fight and a pig hunt, a dancitig competition in Highland cor.tume, and an open-air singing competition; while those who desire it can indulee in dancing on the green. At 9 o'clock the electric light will be in full play, and innumerable lanterns will be used to light up tbe grounds. There will be a fireworks display, and visitors can inspect the local manufactures exhibited. With swinsß, roundabouts, the switchback- railway, and shooting galleries, there will be abundance of side shows. There is a,lso to be an art union for 21 prizes, each admission ticket entitling ihe holder to a chance in the drawing, which tak«s place on the second day. With favourable weather the fair should be well attended.
