'■■.'■■ ' TO THE BDITOH. '"■:' ] • Sir,—There is one paragraph in the annual report of the above association to which I wish to take exception. The committee state thai: they waived a point in favour of a non-affiliated club by permitting one of their affiliated cluba to play a match with them. They should, however, have also stated that the match was arranged at the wish of the affiliated club. The non-sffiliated club was started for tha promoting of the sociality of its members as much as for practice at tennis. They had no desire to play any outside matches, and it was only on being pressed by the affiliated clap that the; agreed to do so on this occasion. The Otago Lawn Tennis Association need not recommend the application of the boycott against this club. So disgusted-were some of its members at tha overbearing manners and r,t sundry remarks of : the affiliated club's players on the ground that at the invitation to play a return match those members refused point blank to play. The club which has incurred the wrath of the Otago Lawn Tennis Association has n membership'of about 60, and is quite content to remain as it is—outside the Otago Lawn Tennis Association. Ttiose interested will thus see that it was not the affiliated but the non-affiliated club whjcb was conferring a favour.
