SCHOOL COMMITTEES.
The usual monthly meeting of the Kaikorai School Committee was held; last evening, and attended by Messrs Ferry "(chairman), Calderl Duncan, Harlow, Matheson, Powell, Moir, Roberts, and^Scott. The head master's report stated that the total number on the roll was 838, and the average attendance -767. The Visiting Committee reported that the school buildings and grounds were in first-class order. Messrß Harlow and Powell were appointed a Visiting Committee for next month, and after a quantity of routine business had been transacted the meeting terminated. At the usual monthly meeting of the Ravenßbourne and Rothesay School Committee, the head Blaster's report showed the number on the roll" Boys 130, girls 105,—total 235. Average attendance for (September : Boys 112*3, girls 91*8, —total 204. The treasurer of the penny savings bank reported deposits for September ;£3 5s Bd, withdrawals £'i 7s 6d—total funds to date £141 4s 7d. The resignation of Miss Renfrew as first assistant was received. It was resolved to issue collecting cards for the purpose of raising funds towards payment for improvements to the lower school ground, which it is proposed to drain and level.
