ST. JOHN AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION.

The first-aid classes at Palmerston, which have been instructed by Dr Hislop during the present season, were examined on the 2Sth September by Dr H. A. de Lautour, of Oamaru, and the following are the names of those who gained passes :—

AVomen's Class.—Mrs Hislop, Mrs Philip, Miss lua Philip, Miss P. A. Lowry, Miss G. C. S. M'Naught, Miss Roebuck. Men's Class.—Messrs J. Grant, R. M. Robertson, E. Clark, 6. Lockhart, John Stewart, R. G. Driver, A.. Fraser. The examiner in his report expresses satisfaction at the practical knowledga displayed by the candidates, who not only did the work of applying splints, bandages, <Sc. well, but ab;o had "reasons why " they did so. At the Y.W.C.A. Roomß last evening Dr Jeffcoat delivered his third lecture of the nursing course.. There was as usual a very large attendance.'
