HIGH STREET SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the High street School Committee, held last night, was attended- hi Messrs H. Mercer (chairman), J. H. Hosking, A*1 Cameron, W. Farnie, J. Caradus, J. Jolly, jun.,' J. Luun, aad W. Melvin, The head master r& ported that the average .attendance was—Boys, 343; girls, 2'J7 ;—total, 610. The total on .the roll was-Bbys, 374 ; girls, 326 ;—total, 700. His Worship the Mayor had presented the school with two boxes of lollies to be distributed amongst the children ou Labour Day. The Chairman| reported that £14 lis fld had been paid into the penny savings bank since last meeting, and thai the total deposits now amounted to £2J16 18s. A suggestion was made by the head master th3t a hobby show, should be held, and the committer approved of the idea and resolved to co-operate with the teachers to give effect to it. Accounts, amounting to _£29 7s 6d were passed for payment.
