WEST TAIERI RIVER BOARD.
A general meetiog of the West Taierl River lbard, held on Saturday, was attondo 1 by Meß9ra Snow (chairman), Andrews, CMsholro, Blair, and Batbgite. Tho clerk submitted a statement showing the liabilities for the year endins3lst March 1695 to bo as follows:—lnterest on loan of £2375 at 6J per cent, £193 7s 6d; interest on Government loans of £1031 18i 4d at 5 p=r cent,, £50 4s lOd ; instalment of principal (annual), £1*5 ;—total, £8«8 12a 4d. A rate of IJd in tho pound would civ £607 9a. It waß resolved to
hold a special meeting on Monday, 7th inst., to fix the amount of special rate. In reply to a question, the Clerk Slid there were three ratepayers in arrears with their rates for the past year. He was instructed to take immediate steps to ?«t the rates collected. Mr Blair reported that his portion of tbe embankment waa in fair order, but that some parts of it required to I'C cleared of gorae, as at present it was difficult to find where rabbits were burrowing in the embankment. Mr Snow reported that he had got some repairs dono whero necessary sincu last mcetiDg It was agreed to fence across Bcaumaris etreet at the rivor to protect the willows
