NORTH-EAST VALLEY BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The ordinary meeting of the Nortb.-Ea.Bfc Valley Borough Council, held on Thursday evening last, was attended by the Mayor (Mr D. Anderson), and Crs Russell, M'Gregor, Green, Campbell, Schlotel, Evans, and Calder. The Finance Committee reported that since last meeting £89 4s had been paid into the bank; The bank overdraft was:—Dr. General account, £1243 16s 103. Cr. Interest account, £36 16s lid—being £89 4s 7d under statutory
limit; The annual balance for the year ended March 31 showed a marked improvement in finance. The sum of £355 additional revenue had been received as compared with the previous year. For the year ended March 1893 the borough's indebtedness had increased by £375 2i lOd; for the year ended March 1894 it had decreased by £287 9s 9.3. Tb« committee reoommcndiul that the oiler of the Otago Daily Times Compiny for advertising be accepted. The committee also recommended that those persons who had nut paid their dog tax be prosecuted. Accounts amounting to £51 2a 7d were pas-td for paymnnt.—Adopted.
The Wyiks Committee reported on various works effected in the borough. It recommended that metal be spread ou Main North road to the extent of £3; and that the Rev. G. Barclay ba asked to remove his wooden crossing on Pine Hill road.—Adopted.
Mr Frederick Cockerill's application to have Mr Nelson's road declared open by the council was referred to tho Works Committee.
Mr A. Frasei'n application for a footpath in Black's road was referred to the inspector for a report.
The collector was instruoted to lake proceedings for the recovery of all outstanding rates.
