ENTERTAINMENTS.
The first of a series of monthly nocl&U waa held in the D.A.B.C. Boathouse on Tuesday evening and passed off most Bucceasfully. Tho concert, was given to a largo audience, consisted of vocal and instrumental items. Hiss Marks gave a vury finished rendering of the nong "Vashti," while Mrs Wakeiield-Holmcs wan heard to advantage in the song "Sunshine and rain," and Mlub Lichtvnstein sang a pretty little song in a very pleasing manner. Of the gentlemen, Mr Jogo Bang "Dearer than life "in his well-known iitylo, and Mr C. Eager was also very successful in his song "'Tis all that I can say." Two male quarUstn by Messrs Ibbotson, Jago, liobertshaw, and JSagor were pleasing items, and a bWd/ quartet by Messrs F. liobertshaw, Dallas, Coombs, Hlcwart, and V. liobertshaw was also very enjoyable, The most popular item on tbe programme waa the Irish song " Enniscorthy," sung by Mr Bert Hanlon, who was assisted by a choru* of tlx rather roughlooking beings supposed to be from the Emerald Iblb. This song was sung In Mr Hanlon's well-known free-and-eaey style, acd a vociferous encore was the result. The D.A.li <J, orchestra played an overture and accompanied the various songs, and acquitted themselves in ft creditable manner. After the concert a ilntutu ! waa held. Mr Hooper made an cliiclcnt M.0., and Mr Yates supplied,tho music. Mr ltW4U'% catering, as usual, give satisfaction. Great prate is due to Mr liobertshaw for his efforts in arranging the whole entertainment.

'J lie boatehed of the dub W(ts tastefully decorated forthe occasion, and rc/lwtert credit on the gentlemen who undertook tliln pad of the arrangements. Ihere waa a very numormut attendance of members and visiton, includtliK Mr James Mills (president), who took Hie cliiiff, Captain Cameron and Mr C. K. ]Jor«cri«« (vU'.«presidents), Mr S Myers (president of tho N.K/Ji, Club), and Mr James (captain of tliu UA.Ji, Club). DuriDg the evening songs wero «fv«ri Uy Messrs Jago, Jones, Packer, Mansou, (ioiwriiiin, Wright, Eager, and De Maus, whiks Hlitnor Squarise gave a violin solo with great w.asyUint'A, and Mr Seelon a flute solo. Mr liobertßlittw wit)) his string quartet party rendered yeoman MtvhWr Several toasts, including "The Queen," '"I'b'f Amateur Rowing Association of IVuw Xeulmxl/' "Kindred Associations." "Tue O/licers tit lli'i Q.D.8.C.," "The Senior Fours," aud "'III') Visitors," were drunk with acclamation, and duly responded to. During the evening Mr iioK»(riiC« presented Mr Yeoman (thtir trainer) willi (I photograph of the Junior Fours winners at Waihola regatta, and a similar photo was presented I'J the club. Mr Yeoman returned thanks, and Mr James did tho'samo ou buhalf of hiß club. Mr liobertshaw acted sis accompanist during tho ovening, which waa a moiit enjoyable one in ovcry respect.
