POLITICAL VOLUNTEERS.

I 10 THE EDITOR. Sm,—The Westport Times of 4th inst. contains 1 the following announcement:—" New Rifles.— '■ The Brunner Rifles have received six of the I newest class of Martini-Henry rifles from the r last shipment received by Government from j Home.' The corps mentioned is one of those , recommended in Colonel Pox's report for dia- ; bandment, but it happens to be in Mr Seddon's ■ district, hence the sop. vMany corps in Otago were 1 well reported of, but no Martinis have so far been issued in this district. Possibly the votes of Otago Volunteers are not worth angling for.— I am, &c, November 27. Nemo.
