DUNEDIN HORSE SALEYARDS. WEEKLY REPORT.

Messrs Wright, Stephenson, and Co. report as follows :— For the convenience of farmers and others from a distance who were attending the show, we held a special sale of light horses on Saturday. There was a large attendance of buyers, aud good prices were realised for nearly every lot offered. Really good buggy and carriage horses and cobs were most in demand, and when they displayed good bone and strength combined with pace and breeding little difficulty was experienced in quitting them. Carriage horse 3 fetched to £27, and good hacks and buggy horses from £16 to £21. Inferior and medium horses were not so well competed for, but, notwithstanding, a fair number changed hands. - Only a few draughts were forward, and these met with good competition, it only being when sellers had extreme reserves that sales were not effected. We also offered, on account of a northern client, the trotting stallion Kingston. This colt, a two-year-old, gives great promise, and will wheu another year older be heard more of. He is by Boston; dam Glen, by Messenger.. He was passed in at 92J guineas. We quote : For first-class draughts (extra heavy). £25 to £30; good ordinary draughts (young), £18 to £22; medium draughts, £12 to £16; aged draughts, £6 to £10; good hacks and harness horses, £12 to £16; medium do, £7 to £9; light and inferior do, £2103 to £5. ■ '—. .-/ DUNEDIN STOCK EXCHANGE.
