MR HAYNES'S CANDIDATURE. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir,—ln your issue of to-day there is a letter headed "Charles Haynes a Success/ and signed ■' Elector." His experience sadly represents my own. I have never spoken to, never seen Mr Haynes; yet my impression was that his politics would be what "Elector" terms " colourless," and I heartily endorse the change that the reading of his masterly, yet unassuming address wrought upon my sentiments. And I observe, with extreme satisfaction, his intention of ignoring the unjustifiable habit of canvassing, leaving his election to the conscientious convictions of those who vote for him. Such action is the highest and the best way to educate the people.—l am., &c, Dunedin, November 22. Voter.
