I fIYHE season for planting spring flowering | .JL bulbs having now arrived, I take an early J opportunity of reminding my patrons of the P fact that early autumn planting is imperative , for a brilliant display of theso harbingers of spring. Usu.-tlly planting is delayed until • winter, when the soil is cold and wet. thus giving the bulbs little or no chance to make tho amount of roots necessary to produce robust \ flowers. Those who saw my spring bulbs when ' in bloom last season were amazed at the l luxuriant growth and the strength of the , flowers, especially growing in such an exposed . position as they were, unprotected from the ■ severe south-west gales so prevalent in spring. Success was principally due to early autumn planting and discarding such varieties as were found to produce poor flowers or foliage. My immense collection (tho largest in the colony) were never harvested in better condition, aud my customers can rely that none but strong, healthy bulbs will be supplied. — George Matthews, Bulb Grower, Moray place and Mornington. — Germany, like England, has a high emigration rate, but in spite of that she adds more than twico as much to her population in one year as France adds in five years. The population of the German Empire is now greater by 10 millious than the population of France. "The Fragrant Floriline," boing composed in part of honey and sweet herbs, is delicious to the taste, and the greatest toilet discovery of the age. Price 2s 6d, of all Chemists and Perfumers. AVholesale depot, 38 "Farringdon road, London.—[Advt ] Holloway's Ointment and Pills.—Abscesses, Erysipelas, Piles.—Unvarying success attends all who treat these diseases according to the simple printed directions wrapped round each pot and box. They are invaluable to the young and timid, whose bashfulness sometimes endangers life. Though apparently local, diseases of this nature arc essentially blood diseases, but a little attention, moderate perseverance, and trifling expense will enable the most diffident to conduct any case to a happy issue without exposing secret infirmities to anyone. The ointment checks tho local inflammation and alleviates the throbbing pains. These directions also clearly point out when and how Holloway's Pills are to be taken, that their purifying and regulating powers may assist by adjusting and strengthening the constitution. 5i For Biliousness or Sick Headache, Giddiness, Depression of Spirits, Sluggish Liver, Aromiting, Sourness of the Stomach, Constipation and its evils, Impure Blood, Skin Eruptions, Sea Sickness, &c, ENO'S FRUIT SALT is the simplest and best remedy yet introduced.
