WARDEN'S COURT.

A sitting of the Warden's Court was hold yesterday by the warden, Mr E. H. Carew. Messrs John W. Harrison, W. J. Mitchell, and J. Garrett applied for occupation licenses under section 230 of " The Mining Act 1801," for part of section 21, block IV, Mount Hyde, comprising 58 acres.—Samuel J. Joyce made a similar application in respect of part of section 35, block IV, comprising 100 acres.—Mr John Todd objected to the applications being granted on the ground that the sections were auriferous, and he would be debarred from prospecting and workingtheground. —The Warden intimated that he would give his decision in respect of them at the next sitting of of the court.—Mr W. G. Smith appeared for the applicants.

The late purchasers of the land beyond the Pomahaka river, on Captain Mackenzie's run, have (says the Tapanui Courier) now put thoir holdings in hand. The most of the land is well fenced, and Mr D. Beattie has erected buildings and turned over a portion of the flat ground. Soon the tussock will have to disappear, and the land will assume a more profitable appearance.
