Taueanoa, June 9,

James Salt, late farrier-sergeant of the 6th Inniskillen Dragoons, who took part and was wounded in Scarlett's charge at Balaclava, died suddenly on Sundsy. He was buried to-day with military honours. The firing psrty consisting of members of the Waikato militiamen.
