ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.

Chmstchurch, June 8.
A man named Sutherland was found dead at Waikari yesterday morning. He left the station on Saturday with an empty dray and three horses. The dray was found capsised, lying acro33 Sutherland's neck.

On Saturday night Mr Boers, telegraph lineman at Tophouse, was coming to town by train. At Hope station he left the carriage under the impression the train stopped a few minutes, but seeing it move off he ran to get in the last carriage, when he fell between it and the platform. He received a compound fracture of his left leg, which was somewhat crushed, but he is progressing favourably, and the doctor is confident of saviug the. leg.
A young man named Fred. Clark had his leg broken and sustained other injuries by tbe unexpected, falling of a tree he whs crosscutting to bring down. This occurred at Wakapuaka.
An rnHti named Mor^nu, recently from th« Wt"sfc Coast, residing with his brother at Waimea West, died suddenly on Saturday night.
