THE HOSPITAL SITE. TO THE EDITOR.
Sib, —The site of the hospital has apparently been fired. It is to stand where it is—so rnmour has it. OE course wo know Rumour ia an old jade who does not always speak the truth, and it is to be hoped that she does not speak correctly this time when shb says that tho Hospital Board has fixed to go on with alterations and additions to tho present building, and have entrusted the preparing of the plans to one or two favourites. If such is the case then it J3 fat from fairplay. When publio money is to be expended by a publio body on public buildings for the publio good, no specialties should be allowed in selecting favourites, but let tho work be open to publio competition among the architects. The difference of opinion in tho faculty, the questioning of the decision of the commissioners, and the additional circumstances that the publio haa not been taken into confidence, warrant me in signing.—l am, &o , February 10. j AS .
