The seventeenth annual report of the direotori of tho Standard Insurance Company, to ba presented at the meeting of shareholders on the 2nd May, Is to the following effect:—" The directors have pleasure In submitting tho annual report and balance sheet for tho year ended December 31,1890. The income for the year, including the balance brought forward from last year, amounts to £89,25411s 6d, and the expenditure £73,963 03 lOd, leaving a balance of £15,291 10s Bd. From this amount your dlreotors paid the usual Interim dividend In June last, amounting to £2812 109, and recommend that.the balance De appropriated as follows:—To pay a dividend at the rato of 7f par cent, per annum, £2812 10s; tooarryto reserve fund (which will then Btand at £23,000) £4000; to carry forward to next year, I £566610s Bd. Full provision has been made in the accounts for all ascertained lossei to the close of the ! year. The dividend now recommonded, if approved Iby the »harehnldera, will be payable at the head offices, High street, Dunedin, on Monday, March 9, and r.t the branches on receipt of advice. Mr James Curie and Mr Maurioo Joel retire from the direotory as provided by the articles of aseooiation. Both are eligible and offer themselves for re-eleotion. It will also be ntcessary to elect an auditor for the ensuing year."
