t Wellington, February 14. The Hanawatu river is in very high flood, and last night it was still rising. Very little damage is reported from the Masterton dis" trict. The Forty-mile Bush rivcra are all in high flaod, and traffic ia suspended in several places.

The slips on the Mauawatu Gorge have not injured the railway line, but as there wiil be delay in clearing the dthria the opening has been indefinitely postponed.

New Plymouth, February 14. It rained all night and the rivers are very high. All the bridges in tho district are reported to be safe, though quantities of drift wood" have been heaped against them. On Thursday night several small boats from the rivers were washed out to sea, and' tho beach for miles wns strewed with timber, logs, &c, brought down with the freshes.
