THE TE AROHA SEAT.
(Fas United Pbess AssociirioH.) Wellington, February 13. Mr W. S. Allen, who was returned f3r the To Aroha seat afc the general election, returned from London by the Arawa, and in the course of an interview with a reporter said he has little doubt that through his inability to be present and the failure to Esk for leave of absence for him Ms seat really has become vacant, but if he is not disqualified through any acts of his supporters he will stand again and make a personal canvass of the electorate. In his opinion a gre.it mistake was mado by the whip of his party in nofc applying for leave of absence, as if that course had been adopted the issue would have been narrowed down considerably. He is firmly convinced thafc no illegal acts have been done either by Mr Buttle or Mr Cox, who are his accredited agents, bufc of course he cannot at present say whether there have been irregularities on tho part of any of his other supporters. Mr Alien is very much gratified afc the large measure of support accorded him during tho election, and ifc is his intention, even if he is debarred from standing again, to address the electors at various centres and return thanks for the compliment paid him during Lis absence.
