THE EXHIBITION REGATTA.

A meeting of the New Zealand and South Seas Exhibition Regatta Sailing Committee was held in the Harbour Office last evening to consider the protests entered in socie of the sailing and rowing races. The whole of the members were present, and a great deal of evidence was taken. The protest by Winifred and Atalanta against the Goldseeker, on the ground that she went wrong side of No. 3 red beacon, arid also for fouling Winifred was upheld, the Winifred now taking first prise and Atalanta second. The protest entered fay the Efoiad Bowing 'Club (Port Chalmers; against the Dunedin Rowing Club and Waitemata Boating Club was not entertained. Protests were also considered against Janet, in Maiden Fours; Jane, in Openboat Sailing Race, under 20ft; and from Premier in Champion Open-boat Sailing Hace, but the committee decided that they could not bo entertained. It was decided to b,aad over prizemoney at the Harbour Office on Saturday evening, at 7 o'clock,

It was stated in error in our report yesterday that the Waitemata crew were concerned in the protest against Dunedin in the champion fours, whereas the Waitemata boat was included in the protest lodged by the Colonial Eowing Club crew.

I rpHE agents for the Waterbury Watch ComJL pany are constantly receiving unsolicited testimonials concerning the superiority of these watches. The iollowing is the latest: —"Hukerenui South, September 3rd, ISB9. Sirs,—Up till within a few days I have held a very poor opinion of your watches, wrongly supposing that so very cheap an article must needs be valueless; b«t the following instance of their strength'and endurance has made me alter my mind. Last week myself ; and mate were digging gum not many miles from Kawakawa, and had the bad luck to. get ; burnt out. Whilst raking among the ashes of our late dwelling we found my mate's Waterbury watch, the glass of- which had been broken by the heat and the face blackened and disfeured; but judge our surprise at hearing it ticking on just as usual, and when turning it over, some water ran out of it, which must have penetrated when our neighbours were flinging water on the whare. You can make what use you like of this, and I vouch for its truth, and shall always hold that a watch that will stand two elementsfire and water—is worth its weight in gold.— I remain, &c, Feanois Kelson."
