LAND BOARD.

The weekly meeting of the Land Board was held on Wednesday, and was attended by Mesßrs J. PMaitland(chief commissioner), J.W.Thomson,W. Dallas, 11. Clark, and J. Duncan.

Bun 492.—The Government having approved of Hun 493, Oleddon river, being submitted for pastoral leasing, the board decided that the run should be offered for a term of 10 years, at an upset annual

GlKNOMAiitr.—A fetter was [received from Messrs A, Tapper and Co., requesting the board to reconsider their decision with regard to granting George Thomson a license over 43 acres of the bush reserve, section 12, block I, Glenomaru district, as they had purchased the interest of the former licensee ; also an application by Mr D. Stewart to have his license transferred to Messrs Tapper and Co.—Consideration postponed for a fortnight. The board, after considering the report of Katfger Hugban that Peter King, the perpetual lessee of sections 83 >nd 91, block VIII, Glenomaru, had not complied witli the conditions of his lease, having failed to reside on the laud or to improve it, resolved that the lessee should be notified to show cause why his lease should not be forfeited.

Tuapkka West,—A memo, was received from the Receiver of Land Itevenue, stating that Mr J. 0. Arbuckle had paid up the interest' due by P. M'lneruey on section 17, block IX, Tuapeka West, and suggesting that the minute forfeiting the license be rescinded.—lt was agreed that the minute should be rescinded accordingly. Knapdale.—The Olerk of the Knapdale Eoad Board forwarded for approval the plan of a road on which the board purpose expending certain supplementary amounts ; the road being the one between sections 1 and 29, block HI, Otama.—Eoad .line approved. Makrewhenua.—Mr John A. M'Pherasn wrote inquiring on what terms he could erect a fence or lease the small quarry reserve adjoining his property inblock 11, Maerewhenua district,so as to prevent stray cattle breaking into his crop.—Eeferred to the county council for report.

For village settlement land on perpetual lease-John Harriß, section 12, block IV; Bridget Harris, section 13, block IV; and William (}um, section 16, block IV, Glenkenich; Anne H'Pherson, section 21, block II; and John A. M'Pherson, section 22, block 11, Maerewhenua.— Leases to issua. For prospecting licenses outside mimng districts-Charles W. Held, two miles Kakanui Beach; B. T. Rhodes, two. miles Moeraki Beach; James B. Held, two miles, Moeraki Beach • John Borton, two miles, Moeraki Beach; Albert J. Garland, two miles, Knkanui Beach; John P. Heid, two miles, Kakanui Beach.—Prospecting licenses for six months' granted. HUN 244s\—Mr W. L. Simpßon wrote, on behalf of the lessee of small grazing run 244F, asking what redress the board could give against the indiscriminate taking up all over this run of residence areas by the holdersof miners" rights.—The letter was received and the Chief Commissioner suggested that Mr Simpson should make ■ representations to the Government in

the event of any considerable area being taken up. Glenkenich. —Eanger Hughan reported on the ] application of Mr H. B. Martin, on behalf of D. Beattie, to have section 30, block I, Glenkenich district, offered for sale, suggesting that as the land is used for dam purposes it should be offered at auction at the upset price of 40s per acre.—Referred to the warden for report as to whether it is Btill necessary to reserve the section. The Eeeeiver of Land Bevenue intimated that K. Weir, deferred-payment licensee of section 39, block X, Gleukenich, had paid all arrears of interest.—The resolution forfeiting the license was rescinded by the board. Beaumont Kivek.—The Banger reported on the application by 0. G. Nash for a leaße of 14 acres of bush land for firewood purposes on Beaumont river, Run 170b, stating that the bush consists of Bmall manuka and other light timber, and recommending that it be granted.—License granted for three years at 10s per acre, payable in advance. Kimow—Mr W. D. Smith, on behalf of the perpetuil lessee of section 2, block X, Kurow, asked leave to occupy and graze on portions of mining reserve opposite his section, to enable him to obtain water for his stock.—Referred to chief commissioner with power to act. Deferred Payment Holdings.—A statement was read from the Receiver of Land Revenue show-

ing that the following deferred payment holders are in arrears with their rents:—John Donaghue, section 22, block X; John liobertson, section 9, block IX; and Duncan Robertson, section 23, block X, Waitahuna West; W. Clouston, section 74, block XI, Glenkenich; Thomas Thomson, section 16, block IV, Mount Hyde; John h. Shaw, section 16, block IV, Mount Hyde; Hugh Cameron, section 1, block 111, Oatlins; Jacob Lory, section 6, block XI, Niiseby; Henry Clark, section 4, block I, Budle j Adam Sutherland, section 3, block V, Dunback; Mary Bailey, section 10, block VIII, Waihemo; John Oayle, section 4, blooklV, Swinburn; William Dodd, section 12, block 11, Budle; and James Law, section 21, block IV, Gimmerburnr—lt was resolved that those who had not capitalised Bhould be informed that they must either pay up arrears or apply for capitalisation within one month from date; and that those in arrears in instalments are required to pay up within one month.

Taibbi Lake.—Mr Digby Smith, on behalf of Alexander Kinney, asked that when Taieri Lake station is out up for settlement instructions, may be issued to the surveyors to lay off an area adjoining section 12, block HI, Bock and Pillar, such as will enable him to increase his holding to 640 acres— lieferred to the chief surveyor, to be kept in view when the rua is being surveyed. This concluded the business.
